Describe yourself.
I'd say I'm adventurously curious and recklessly creative.

C’mon, give us some more.
My name’s Dan, and I’m 25 years old. Seattle’s home for me, and bringing big ideas to life is what fuels most of my days. I’m easily fascinated, easily impressed, and obsessed with just about anything you can think of.
What are some of your current obsessions?
Right now it’s cold water surfing, powder days, gravel cycling, footwear design, good typography, vintage motorcycles, and finding the crispest cup of local iced coffee.
Tell us a bit about your creative journey.
Like a lot of PNW kids, I was fascinated by the woods, wild animals, and the reckless adventure of the outdoors. I grew up backpacking around the North Cascades, kayaking in the Puget Sound, and later learned to surf and chase every kind of fish around in the Pacific Ocean. I discovered Instagram in early high school, bought my first DSLR in 2015, and brought it just about everywhere hahah. Some of my best memories are from my first summer road trips once I finally had my driver’s license. I started taking creative work more seriously while at the University of Washington in Seattle, where I studied Marketing in the Michael G. Foster School of Business. I worked at several startups in all kinds of business and marketing roles, but found my true passion in pursuing project-based creative work. I’m currently available for freelance photography and branding. It’s been a blast.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Inspo is everywhere - and I’m a firm believer that your creativity is in direct proportion to the type of creative environment that you build for yourself. A lot of my design work is influenced by architecture, sports, fashion, and ultimately the work of other artists and authors. I’ve always got a book on my desk, and find myself drawn to abstract ideas that present themselves in ordinary areas of life. Sometimes a walk through the neighborhood is more than enough to spark a new passion project, unique solution, or provide a fresh perspective. Movement is always an impetus for revolution.

What’s next for you?
I’d love to see more of the world - and build more beautiful relationships with people in other places. I think eventually I’d love to go back to school and pursue one of my favorite passions: sneakers. I’m still chasing a childhood dream of mine to design and develop footwear for an athletic brand. But in the meantime, just doing purposeful, creative work every single day is what’s next for me. You spend most of your life working, so you better be building something beautiful.
