I'd never shot a concert before, so when my homie Josiah asked me to shoot his first show in Seattle, it was a no brainer. A dingy, narrow barroom with the haze of an old smokers' porch, the High Dive produces sound that washes across the front rows of the crowd before settling softly over the bar tops in the back corners. I expected it to be hard to move in and out of the crowd and find different angles that made for a more complete scene, but was completely blindsided by the constant change in temperature and brightness of the stage lights throughout the set.

Josiah found his groove, and I was able to pick back up on mine, and together we produced some killer shots that have me stoked to be creating in new ways. I found myself fumbling to change my ISO and Kelvin settings as deep blues and purples paired with moodier songs in the set -- but boy did I win the lottery to see the look on Josiah's face when I airdropped him some of the photos that night. Having a front row seat when people pursue their creativity is a treat I'll gladly take over and over.

All images shot on Leica Q2, with no filters, no flash, and no clue about what I was doing.
